Services
Disease Diagnostics and Treatments
At the Avalon Animal Hospital, we offer medical care for a variety of conditions including, but not limited to: skin disease, eye disease, heart disease, gastrointestinal disease, respiratory disease, neurological disease, diseases of the urinary tract and diseases of the endocrine system like diabetes, hypo- or hyperthyroidism. Our skilled veterinarians and veterinary assistants will use all of our diagnostic tools in pursuit of an accurate and timely diagnosis of your pet's condition.
Surgical Procedures and Recovery
At the Avalon Animal Hospital, we take surgery and anesthesia very seriously. Your pet is examined and has his or her pre-surgical blood results evaluated before the appropriate anesthetic protocol is determined. While the veterinarian performs the surgery, a veterinary assistant monitors your pet's vital signs. The assistant is also responsible for administering any medications during the surgical procedure. During surgery there is one patient per veterinary assistant.
Common procedures, including spays, neuters and dental procedures are performed daily at our hospital. We also have experience with lump removals, a wide variety of abdominal surgeries, eye surgeries and some orthopedic surgeries. Every patient is treated as an individual by our skilled staff. We are very proud of the thorough care that we provide our surgical patients.
Once the surgical procedure is finished, your pet is then put under the watchful care of the post-operative recovery assistant whose sole priority is monitoring the health status of all of our surgical patients. She administers pain medications and whatever other medications that have been ordered by the veterinarians. She will skillfully see your pet safely through the recovery process. On occasion, a pet needs to be kept in the hospital for a short time to get back on the road to good health. Our highly trained staff will ensure your pet will receive excellent quality and compassionate care.
Pharmacy and Prescription Refills
We operate a fully-stocked pharmacy. Please note that prescription refills must be pre-approved by the attending veterinarian and require 48 hours advance notice. All prescription repeats expire after one year and will require an annual exam to be refilled.
Get Your Pet Vaccinated
At the Avalon Animal Hospital, we believe the best way to keep your pet healthy is to prevent them from becoming sick in the first place. Our team is happy to provide vaccinations for your pets. There are many illnesses that are easily preventable as long as the proper vaccines are administered following the correct procedure. While many vaccines only require a single administration, there are others that require annual or more frequent dosage. You can trust our veterinarians to have a strong knowledge of all types of vaccines, and provide you with the information and guidance you need.
