Jillian Morris, Owner
Jillian joined the Avalon Animal Hospital team as co-owner in March 2012. As a lifelong animal lover Jillian has been a great new asset to our team ensuring patient care is always our top priority.
Dr. Danielle Dunn-MacLean
Dr. Dunn-MacLean graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2001 and practiced in the Maritimes for most of her career. That is until she could no longer resist the pull of her beloved "Rock" and moved back to her hometown of St. John's with her family.
Dr. Dunn-MacLean is very interested in infectious disease and paediatrics, and is passionate about spaying and neutering pets.
Dr. Marina Zadworny
Dr. Marina was born in Montreal and grew up in Gatineau, Ottawa, and Prince Edward Island. She graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in the class of 2020 and moved to Newfoundland shortly after.
In her spare time, Marina loves to hike, swim, enjoy local restaurants, and spend time with her cat, Noah.
She looks forward to meeting all your sweet pets at the Avalon Animal Hospital!
Dr. Mike Scruton
Dr. Mike was born right here at home in St. John's, Newfoundland and is happy to be practicing in his home province. He graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2008 and since then has been working exclusively in small animal practice. After graduation, he worked in British Columbia for 6 years before returning home to be closer to family. Dr. Mike has extensive soft tissue surgical experience and is highly proficient at spays and neuters after having worked with non-profit groups over the past 7 years. He is very excited to continue his career at Avalon Animal Hospital and can't wait to meet you and your pet.
Dr. Mike and Dr. Ashley are married, and together, they have 2 young boys, Isaac and Noah along with 2 lazy cats and a neurotic dog named Murphy!
Dr. Ashley Harvey
Dr. Ashley Harvey grew up in St. John's always knowing she wanted to be a veterinarian. She fulfilled that dream when she graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2009. After graduation, she practiced in British Columbia for 5 years, before returning home. She has been practicing in Newfoundland for the last 7 years and is very excited to join the team at Avalon Animal Hospital. Dr. Ashley loves all animals and can't wait to meet your cats and dogs!
Dr. Jennifer O’Reilly
Dr. Jenn O’Reilly originates from Mount Pearl. She has had a strong passion for animals from a very young age and has always pursued every opportunity to care for and work closely with all creatures large and small. Following high school, she attended Memorial University to complete her Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology. Never taking her eyes off of her ultimate goal and lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian, she applied to the Atlantic Veterinary College upon graduating from MUN. She was accepted, and graduated from the AVC in May 2019. Although Dr. O’Reilly is a lover of all animals, she has a particular fondness for cats and horses. Her Veterinary interests include disease prevention, animal behaviour and internal medicine.
Dr. Murphy
Dr. Murphy was born and raised in St. John’s. She pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian by completing an undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University (Bio veterinary Science with a Certificate in Animal Welfare), followed by her veterinary degree at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Scotland, graduating in the spring of 2024.
Dr. Murphy loves all animals, with some of her favorites being dogs, bunnies, and snakes. She looks forward to meeting all of your wonderful pets!
Dr. O’Leary
From a very young age Dr. O’Leary had a passion for helping animals of all kinds. A career in veterinary medicine is something that allows her to spend her days with animals, help others, and constantly learn!Dr. O’Leary graduated from Atlantic Veterinary College on Prince Edward Island in 2018. The area of veterinary medicine that interests her the most is preventative medicine and teaching pet parents the best ways to keep their furry family members healthy.
